The system

The company EBT (Advanced Alternative Building Insulated Concrete Form system) is focussed on developing, manufacturing and selling an innovative system of insulated concrete formwork used for wall construction. It is based on two panels of Expanded Polystyrene, joined together by high density plastic spacers. Indentations in the Polystyrene, developed by us, facilitate and lock both the forms and the steel reinforcement bar securely fastened within the form. .

Once prepared and in place, concrete is poured into the forms creating a monolithic wall with the following characteristics:
An insulation value of net of Rc 3.2
A 2-hour fire resistance,
Noise reduction of 53 DB

The system

EBTs system has proven its strength, durability and overall quality.  EBT was designed to make faster construction possible at a price which is competitive to a traditional wall on a price per square meter comparison.  A single standard element from EPS is the equivalent to 6 concrete blocks.  EPS is injected into our aluminium molds .where the plastic webs have been inserted, providing a good fit between rows and preventing the escape of the freshly poured concrete. An element of integrated formwork has been shaped. Connection spacers are inserted over the height of the EPS side panels, visible on the inside enabling the workers  to easily screw a drywall finish into it.

EBT offers structures that respect the environment, are safe, superinsulated, and permanent, offering numerous advantages:

  • An average of a three people crew can completely set up the EBT elements of an Wall, place the required steel bars and fill the elements with concrete for a building of 600 m² in one day TO: A THREE PERSON CREW CAN COMPLETELY SET UP THE EBT ELEMENT OF ALL THE WALLS OF A 600m² HOUSE IN JUST ONE DAY – INCLUDING PLACEMENT  AND SECURING OF STEEL REINFORCEMENT  BARS
  • Labor costs are reduced because set-up and installation time is shorter thanks to the large dimensions and lightweight nature of our technology.  Our building blocks are 6X bigger than a standard concrete block.
  • The EBT element’s insulation regulates hardening of the concrete. When the weather is warm it is not necessary to add hardening additive components, or an insulated cover when the weather is cold. The EBT elements reach a higher concrete strength, since the concrete hardens within the element and is not in direct contact with the air.
  • The vertical grooves on the inner side of the element allow excellent bonding between concrete and polystyrene, also guaranteeing the connection of  the final elements.
  • The company has an exclusive  shoring and supporting structure to set up once the EBT constructive system are built that provide perfectly aligned and plumb walls; They also facilitate placement of scaffolding on the inside and/or outside face. The structure is only necessary on one side of the wall.
  • The unique upper and lower surface of the system allows for a better anchoring between rows.

Further Advantages of the EBT System:

  • No extra requirement to provide extra air chambers or vapour barriers to optimise the finish. The system already has this incorporated.
  • The system is compatible with other building systems.
  • It is not necessary to cut corners, 90-degree corners left and right to accommodate any design requirement.
  • The assembly precision in the EBT elements eliminate the unnecessary cost of construction debris removal.
  • The superior thermal insulation value of Rc 3.2, translates into reductions in the costs of heating and climate control.
  • The monolithic mass of the AAB walls haves a good quality sound insulation and offer a large 53 DB noise reduction.
  • With the EBT system the only limitation in the design is the pencil.
  • EBT Form Elements are designed for above and below grade insulated house construction, terraced houses, including multi Storey buildings (depending on the construction specifications).
  • The EBT elements are competitive for use in other buildings such as industrial and public buildings.
  • The high fire resistance of 120 minutes (16 cm concrete core), 90 minutes (12.5 cm, concrete core) and the reduction of noise from 53 dB of an AAB wall, make this product perfectly suitable for walls of clubs/discothèques or normal walls between apartments or hotel rooms.
  • The EBT Elements can be used for swimming pool walls, reducing heat loss to the outside.
  • The EBT Elements can be used to buttress when a special finish is required, stucco work and a covering outside consistent with the building.
  • The EPS foam does not contain, nor ever contained chlorofluorocarbons CFCs or HCFCs.

NOTE: *we have suspended the use of our polyurethane foam products because of unreliability of the raw PU. The supplier, BASF, no longer promises consistant material behaviour and we are currently looking for alternative suppliers. We can supply PU based products provider the buyer understands these limitations which are wholly outside of our control.
